By using Cheaper Living you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short, because the site asks almost nothing of you: there is no account, no payment, and nothing of yours is collected.

Who you are agreeing with

Cheaper Living (cheaperliving.com.au), ABN 38 087 741 070. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean that operator.

What this site is

An information tool that estimates what publicly listed electricity and gas plans would cost for the usage you enter. It is general information only. It is not personal advice, and it takes no account of your objectives, financial situation or needs.

Estimates, not quotes

Every figure here is an estimate, calculated in your browser from the usage you supplied and the plan data retailers publish. It is not an offer, a quote, or a guarantee of price or of savings.

What you actually pay will differ. It depends on your real consumption, on the retailer accepting your application, on your eligibility for any discount or credit, and on the contract you sign with them. The retailer's own documents govern your contract — always check their energy price fact sheet and terms before signing up.

Accuracy, and its limits

Plan data comes from the Consumer Data Right feed published by retailers. We do not edit it. We work to price it correctly and test that work continuously, but:

• published data can be incomplete, ambiguous or wrong at the source;
• prices and plans change, and there is a lag between a retailer changing something and it reaching us;
• offers that are not published — including some retention and EV-specific plans — cannot appear at all;
• the data covers NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT only.

Where an assumption was needed to produce a figure, the site says so on the plan. Those flags are part of the answer, not decoration.

Referral arrangements

Some links to retailers earn us a commission, and where they do we pass on a sign-up credit that is counted in the estimate by default. This can lift those plans up the list, and you can switch it off. The full position is on our editorial policy and disclosure pages.

Using the site

You may use it for your own household or business purposes. Please do not attempt to disrupt it, or scrape it at a volume that degrades it for others — the underlying plan data is public and available from the Consumer Data Right feed directly, which is a better source for bulk use than this site is.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on the estimates or information here, including a decision to switch or not to switch plans. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Links to retailers and other third parties are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their terms, or their handling of your information.

Changes

These terms may change. The current version is always the one on this page.
